Thanksgiving Recap

Thanksgiving 2014 was a huge success! We ate only 30 minutes later than I had planned, and everyone enjoyed their night. I wanted to do something special for all of my friends that would be celebrating the holiday with us – so I made everyone a monogrammed tumbler that sat at their place setting when they arrived. It was a little something special that they could take home with them at the end of the night. I have already used mine all weekend – and I love it!

I woke up early Thursday morning and prepared cinnamon rolls and packed a lunch for Jonathan before he left for work. Madeline and I watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and drank mimosas out of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer wine glasses. It was a great way to start the morning.

At around 12:00pm we started prepping everything for the turkey – and it was in the oven by 12:58 – 2 minutes earlier than we had planned. While the turkey was in the oven we worked on the deviled eggs, our bar set-up, got ready for the day and enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions play football. It was pretty uneventful – and only required one SOS call to our friend Brandon to confirm a turkey cooking question. The turkey was finished about 4:30 and it was time to work on all of our other dishes before the guests arrived!

Over the next hour or two we worked on the green bean casserole, herb baked stuffing, bacon brussel sprouts, corn and mashed potatoes. We plated everything, using the china we got for our wedding and all that was left was putting out our signature drink!

Last year my Thanksgiving Signature Drink was a fall sangria, but I wanted something a little lighter this year. I landed on a Cranberry Champagne, it was super simple to make and was a huge hit! There are 3 ingredients – Frozen Fresh Cranberries, Champagne, and Cranberry Juice. To make the cocktail you mix 3 parts champagne to 1 part cranberry juice. Serve using the frozen cranberries as ice cubes and enjoy!

Thank you to everyone that joined us for Thanksgiving this year!
